MC Writers (a.k.a. Methodist's Creative Writers) is a writing group made up of mostly published writers that meets in Fayetteville, North Carolina at Methodist University. We meet once a month on Sunday afternoons for critiquing sessions and for the discussion and study of the writing method and craft: we read writing books and discuss them, analyze published pieces to understand why they work, do writing exercises, and so forth . . . This critiquing group has limited membership, and membership is by application only. Writers who'd like to be considered for the critiquing group are asked to submit 10 pages, double spaced, 12 pt. font, of a current work (poetry, fiction, nonfiction, screenplay, memoir, essay, etc. ) as well as a one page biography that also mentions your writing experience and writing goals. For more information click here. North Carolina Writers Network is an organization for writers in North Carolina. The Network supports the efforts of writers, writing teachers, agents, publishers, and artists. They publish quarterly newsletter, help writers find critiquing groups, hold contests, offer conferences and workshops to help writers hone their craft and so that writers can network with other writers as well as editors, agents, and publishers.
