Workshop in Christian Spirituality
designed and offered by Lynda C. Ward
How to See God
Description: At its heart, the Christian journey
is one of transformation: a transformation from sightlessness to sight.
Our God is not distant or removed from our world or our day-to-day living;
instead our God is alive, present, and fully with us each and every day.
And yet we often do not know it. Because of our lack of vision and awareness,
we continually miss opportunities to see and know God. This workshop titled
"How to See God" draws upon the wisdom of some of the greatest spiritual
teachers in the Christian tradition to illustrate how living the spiritual
life—a life drunk deep, a life full of infinite awareness—can transform
us, so that we can come to see what we ordinarily cannot.
The workshop is for everyone, at any place,
on their spiritual journey. It specifically draws from Thomas Merton's
theological writings, but also addresses topics from other Christian spiritual
masters or mystics as well.
Workshop topics include:
Who is God?
What is Holy Listening?
Prayer and Humility
What is Vision?
Taking Risks
Desire and Focus
Community
Hospitality
